Competition Proposal
This project was a sketch for a competition entry for the a new Cathedral in Tijuana Mexico. The design is modeled on traditional Spanish Colonial architecture which is found throughout Mexico and Central America.
The church sits behind a large forecourt which is open to the public for events and liturgies. Offices for the diocese and cathedral occupy spaces on the arcades around the courtyard.
A large daily chapel and baptistery flank the main entrance. A large pontifical sacristy and adoration chapel sit next to the sanctuary.
At the rear of the block the residence of the cathedral priests and archbishop are situated around a peaceful internal courtyard.
