St. Gerard Catholic Church – Interior and Exterior
Yet another traditional church where the 1980s renovation is beginning to show its age. The interior space is currently too small and the orientation is difficult, as the building was originally designed for a more traditional orientation. The new narthex added in the previous renovation is aging, and reduced the street presence of the church.
To reinvigorate the liturgy the church will be reoriented to the traditional form, and will be expanded to add an additional 60 seats for a growing congregation.
The exterior will have a new facade added to give the church a greater presence and a clear announcement that “this is a church.” The style reflects a growing hispanic population in the parish, and shows the Church’s mission to “evangelize all nations”.
