Shrine of St. Kateri Tekakwitha – Gallup New Mexico

This ambitious project envisions a long term master plan centered around a 200 foot tall crucifix and museum.  The cruxifix, which would be the tallest in the world, anchors the site and is visible up 40 miles away and will be a beacon for the site.

A small chapel for daily masses sits atop the hill next to a museum dedicated to St. Kateri and saints who evangelized the Native people and other Native American saints.

The first phase of the project will be the construction of rosary walk, beginning with an outdoor chapel space and “beads” leading to a central plaza dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe which will be the entrance to the four Mysteries of the rosary.  Each Decade of the Rosary will have a small shrine with individual works of art by native artists in glazed tile.
